Scouting At Trinity

Trinity United Methodist Church sponsors a Boy Scout Troop from the Mt. Cammerer District of the Great Smokey Mountains BSA. Troop 448 has a rich history with Trinity and offers some of the best quality scouting around. Any boy from 5th grade to age 18 is invited to be involved. The scouting program at Trinity prides itself with motivating boys to think and do for themselves. Campouts, fundraisers, and meetings are the result of what the boys have decided to do and they are intensively involved with planning, setting up, and clean-up. Service hours are a major part of the troop on a group and individual level. The boys at Troop 448 do all they can without second thought, to help others.

The pinnacle achievement for many Boy Scouts is attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction earned by only a select few. The journey to Eagle requires dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to making a positive impact on one’s community. Many notable figures in various fields have risen through the ranks of Boy Scouts to become influential leaders in their respective fields.

One such example is Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the moon. Armstrong credited his time as a Boy Scout for instilling in him the values of courage, determination, and a spirit of exploration that propelled him to achieve the extraordinary.

Trinity’s Troup 448 lineage boasts many Eagle Scouts who continue to be involved and help maintain the integrity of the program.

Come be a part of the Boy Scout Troop 448! We would be proud to know you!

The Timeless Value of Scouting

In a world filled with distractions and uncertainties, one organization has stood the test of time in shaping the lives of young individuals, instilling values that last a lifetime, and producing leaders who leave an indelible mark on society. That organization is the Scouts.

Shaping Leaders, Building Character

Another such exemplar leader is Steven Spielberg, the acclaimed filmmaker behind iconic movies such as “Jurassic Park” and “Schindler’s List.” Spielberg’s time as an Eagle Scout instilled in him a sense of discipline, creativity, and a commitment to making a positive impact through storytelling.

You may also be aware of notable Eagle Scout Dr. Robert Gates, a former Secretary of Defense and Director of the CIA. Dr. Gates credits his experience in Scouting with shaping his character and instilling in him the values of integrity, resilience, and a sense of duty to his country.
